World Doubles Squash Championships on wider ASB SquashCourts
ASB Squash News
The 2008 World International Doubles Squash Championships will take place in the ICL Squash Academy in Chennai from 15 – 20 December. It will be staged on seven ASB SquashCourts with moveable side walls and an ASB Show Glass Court.
In order to make the squash doubles more attractive the World Squash Federation (WSF) decided at the AGM in Bermuda to increase the width of the doubles courts from 7.62m to 8.42m. This new width will already be used at the World Doubles Championships. A Task Force headed by Squash New Zealand
carried out a thorough review and many test games. The result: 8.42m is the best width for doubles squash.
The ICL Squash Academy, Chennai, is equipped with ASB SquashCourts with moveable side walls and therefore it is most easy to change the width, thanks to the visionary planning of this squash facility from the beginning.
The ASB Show GlassCourt will be extended by additional glass elements. With the increased width the ASB GlassCourt will offer another possibility to perfectly present doubles squash to the media and spectators.
Innovation is a matter of experience.
