The Women’s World Team Championship 2014 has taken place in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario (Canada), from December 1st to the 6th. As a unique international squash competition, 20 countries from all over the world have been participating. Women’s World Team Championships are held every two years in exceptional locations around the world. Therefore the same ASB ShowGlassCourt, which has been in use at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, was erected at White Oaks Conference Resort & Spa that is considered Canada’s premier squash facility, one of the top squash facilities worldwide and the premier destination for accommodations during the competition. In addition to the ASB ShowGlassCourt seven permanent courts have been hosting the event at White Oaks.
In a dramatic final second seeds England defeated first-time finalists Malaysia 2/1 to win the World Championship for the 7th time. It was less than 24 hours earlier that third seeds Malaysia created the upset of the championship by dethroning title-holders and favourites Egypt. Meanwhile England established a new record 11th successive appearance in the final by seeing off Hong Kong China. All matches on the ASB ShowGlassCourt have been transmitted via livestream.
